Course was great, lots of information (mostly about physics and how to coach).. I'm still gonna have couple things to get more coaching skills for BMX in practice. After that I will publish my BMX coaching guide.
At the moment, I'm keen to do some testing for BMX skills on the bike and couple of physical test. Plan is to test bunny hop, manual, wheelie, sprints (10m, 60m, maybe even 100m) or gate and sprint. Vertical jump or long jump without speed. Pull-ups, planking/push ups. This way we would have 5-6 test spots. If I get people to help me out, so we can run at least 3 test at the same time, or maybe even 6. This wouldn't take too long time..
If tests would be only my decision, I would also test back-hops (on bike jumping on back wheel). That's what we did in the World cycling center with talent team. There was junior elite riders, to be tested to see if they get decided to come to live in CMC to train for Olympics. For some people this test has nothing to do with racing, or even with FS. But it is a test to see how rider moves on the bike, how they get on with something that is not so common for them.. and it is just bike handling skills. You never know if that's the thing that gets rider excited to challenge him/herself.. maybe (s)he gets interested for trial.. or FS who knows. That would mean more hours on the bike.. and again that's only a good thing on my point of view :)
Anyway, the planned test days are Tampere 11.11., Turku 12.11., Helsinki 19.11. and Lahti 25.11. More info coming up when we know something more. All riders are welcome, the riders will get their scores and I will send the averidge/highest scores to the clubs, so the coaches know where to set the goals. I have some international scores already, but only for junior elite and elite. Nothing for kids, yet, I think I will get them tho :)
